On Beginning Quietly

The New Moon of January does not ask us to begin loudly..

It arrives after the excitement has faded, after the lists have been written and forgotten, after we have had time to feel what the year actually carries..

This is not the kind of beginning that announces itself.. It does not rush forward.. It does not promise transformation..

It begins instead with a quieter question:

What am I willing to start, slowly, honestly, and without an audience?

Some beginnings need darkness.. Not as absence, but as protection.. A place where something fragile can take shape without being judged too early.

On this New Moon, I am not choosing ambition.. I am choosing direction..

Not “everything,” just one thing I can return to, even on difficult days..

This is how real beginnings happen.. Not all at once.. Not perfectly.. But steadily..

So tonight, under a sky that offers no light to follow, I take one small step forward, and allow it to be enough..

Until the Moon shows herself again, I will walk gently with what I have begun..
